Story by Jack Foley

EMMA Thompson and Alan Rickman are to reunite for a new BBC adaptation of the Christopher Reid poem, The Song Of Lunch.

The thesps previously appeared together as a married couple in Love Actually as well as the Harry Potter films. They will play former lovers in the new BBC drama.

The story will follow Rickman’s disillusioned editor as he has lunch with his former mistress at the Soho restaurant where they used to meet.

The Song Of Lunch forms part of Reid’s poetry collection, A Scattering, which won the Costa Book of the Year in 2009.

The TV adaptation, described as a blend of drama and poetry, will air on National Poetry Day, October 7, 2010.

BBC Two controller Janice Hadlow commented: “We hope that audiences will enjoy this dramatisation of Christopher Reid’s touching and witty poem and maybe feel inspired to indulge in a little more poetry themselves.”
