ER star Noah Wyle cast in new Spielberg series

Noah Wyle in ER

Story by Jack Foley

FORMER ER star Noah Wyle has been cast as the lead in a forthcoming science-fi series from Steven Spielberg.

The as-yet untitled show will air on TNT and will find Wyle playing the leader of a group of soldiers and civilians who must struggle for survival against an occupying alien force.

Spielberg will serve as executive producer on the series, along with Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Robert Rodat (who is penning the script). The latter was Oscar-nominated for his Saving Private Ryan. DreamWorks Television is producing.

Wyle has previously played leading man for another TNT series, The Librarian, which he took on after departing ER for the first time.

He recently returned to ER as a recurring guest-star for its 15th and final season. Wyle did, of course, play Dr John Carter in the long-running medical drama, which was also produced by Spielberg in its early years.
