Eva Longoria raises funds for 9/11 workers

DESPERATE Housewives star Eva Longoria Parker is to become a waitress for the night in a bid to raise money for 9/11 workers.

The popular actress, who is best known for playing pampered diva Gabrielle Solis on the long-runnning show, is donating her services for a charity auction… and helped to raise £26,400 by doing so!

Longoria Parker played host to an event in Hollywood on Thursday (March 5, 2009) to help raise money for the New York Rescue Workers Detox Project, which supports members of the emergency services who were injured during the World Trade Center attracts of 2001.

In a bid to boost the bidding on a catered meal for 12 that was being offered by her own restaurant, Beso, the actress promised to don an apron and make her signature “tableside guacamole” at the winning bidder’s private dinner party, prompting the bids to soar to an impressive £26,400.

In additio, the winning bidder also received a pair of tickets to watch her husband, Tony Parker, in action with his basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs.
