Game of Thrones: Season 1 - Meet the hottest men

Game of Thrones

Feature by Rob Carnevale

TO celebrate the Blu-ray and DVD release of The Game of Thrones: Season One, we sneak a naughty peak at the good looking (often naked) characters that star in the epic fantasy series.

Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark / Sean Bean

Sean Bean is one of Britain’s bad boy actors who is most famous for his villainous roles in films such as The Patriot, Golden Eye and more recently The Island.

In Game of Thrones, Bean plays the handsome Eddard Stark, who fans will know as Ned, an extremely strong and masculine character. Also known as Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North, he is a commander and dangerous warrior with a strong sense of honour and duty.

A few people would describe Sean Bean as a little bit of a ladies’ man in real life, but on-screen his character Ned Stark is a devoted husband to Catelyn Stark.

Jon Snow / Kit Harington

Game of Thrones, Season 1

Jon Snow, played by new-kid-on-the-block Kit Harrington, is one of the younger characters in Game of Thrones. Graduating in 2008, the gorgeous Kit Harrington had only performed in theatre shows such as War Horse and Posh before landing the part as Jon in Game of Thrones.

Jon is a bi-product of Ned Stark’s infidelity and never actually finds who his real mother is, but faces constant resentment from Ned’s wife Catelyn. Similar in looks to his father, he is lean and dark-haired; however, Jon is an outsider from his family as he struggles with the inner turmoil of being an illegitimate child. He later joins The Wall where he is accepted regardless of his family history.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau / Jaime Lannister

Game of Thrones, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau

Jaime Lannister, known as the Kingslayer, is the second child and first-born son of Lord Tywin Lannister of Casterly Rock and his wife Lady Joanna. Raised to the Kingsguard of the Mad King Aerys Targaryen at the age of fifteen, Jaime became the youngest member in the history of the prestigious knightly order.

He earned the derogatory nickname Kingslayer when he treasonously slew King Aerys at the end of Robert’s Rebellion.

For most of his life, Jaime has had a secretly incestuous relationship with his twin sister, Cersei. He has fathered three children by her: Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen, though most of the realm believes their father to be Cersei’s husband, King Robert.

He is played in the HBO series by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, a veteran of films such as Wimbledon, Kingdom of Heaven and Firewall. He’ll next be seen in the big screen version of Jo Nesbo’s Headhunters.

Khal Drogo / Jason Momoa

Game of Thrones, Season 1

Khal Drogo, known as Drogo, is a powerful warlord of the Dothraki, the famed nomadic horse-lords of the eastern continent beyond the Narrow Sea. He is a fierce, savage and sexy character.

Once described as one of the finest killers alive, his long hair is there to prove that he has never been defeated in battle. Desiring the most attractive women in the world to be his wife, he eventually marries Daenerys, a beautiful blonde, daughter of King Aerys II and Queen Rhaella Targryen. Daenrary’s brother, Viserys, expects Krogo to provide him with an army to recapture the Seven Kingdoms.

Jason Momoa, who plays Drogo, has also starred in the popular TV series Stargate: Atlantis and also recently played Conan in Conan the Barbarian.

Game of Thrones

Robb is a striking figure with his lustrous brown hair and piercing blue eyes. King of the North, Robb is head of House Stark and leads the rebellion against Joffrey Baratheon, who arranged the execution of Robb’s father, Lord Eddard Stark. As the eldest child, Robb has two younger brothers, Bran and Rickon, and two sisters, Sansa and Arya. Robb, also, has a strong bond with his half-brother, Jon Snow.

Trained as a young boy in weaponry, Robb has a strong, muscular physique that receives much attention from the show’s women. The heartthrob owns a direwolf named Grey Wind, which is an intelligent and vicious breed of wolf.
