HIT Sky crime drama Gangs Of London has been renewed for a second season.

The critically-acclaimed drama, which follows the struggles between rival gangs and other criminal organisations in present-day London, became Sky Atlantic’s biggest original drama in five years.

It was co-directed by Gareth Evans, Corin Hardy and Xavier Gens and stars Joe Cole, Ray Panthaki, Lucian Msamati and Paapa Essiedu among its ensemble.

The second season may have been commissioned but owing to current delays in production slates following the global lockdown caused by coronavirus, it’s not likely to be ready to air until 2022.

But confirming the renewal, Thomas Benski, founder of producer Pulse Films, said: “The overwhelming reaction and record-breaking success in the UK of the first season of Gangs Of London has been phenomenal, and we are thrilled to continue this epic journey with such riveting characters for season two with our amazing cast, crew and partners.

“We look forward to teaming up again with our friends at Sky and to welcoming AMC on board as our U.S. broadcast partner. AMC is the perfect home for our show, and we cannot wait for audiences Stateside to experience series one this autumn.”
