Gotham and Brooklyn Nine-Nine renewed for second and third series

BATMAN prequel Gotham and cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine have both been renewed for new seasons by TCA in the US.

Gotham, starring Ben Mackenzie as James Gordon, will return for a sophomore run, having impressed in its debut run by becoming the No. 1 broadcast drama overall among men 18-49 and men 18-34.

While Brooklyn Nine-Nine, starring Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher, returns for a third run having just started its second season with more impressive viewing figures. It’s created by Parks and Recreation producers Dan Goor and Mike Schur.

Another drama guaranteed a second run is Empire, which stars Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, and which has been dubbed ‘the hip-hop Dynasty‘ in the US. It has more VOD viewing than any other Fox show this season, earning more than 1.1 million total viewers.

All three series join animated favourites Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and The Simpsons in being renewed.
