OSCAR nominees Greg Kinnear and Diane Lane have joined the cast of Netflix’s House of Cards for its final season.

Following a months-long shutdown after star and executive producer Kevin Spacey was fired because of sexual misconduct allegations, production on the eight-episode sixth and final season of the political drama is due to begin today (Wednesday, January 31, 2018).

Lane and Kinnear will play siblings, although any further details about their characters are being kept under wraps.

Also on board for House of Cards final season are leading lady Robin Wright’s Claire Underwood, as well as co-stars Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver. Neve Campbell is not returning.

House of Cards marks Lane’s first series-regular role on TV. Her film credits include Unfaithful, Hollywoodland, Trumbo and Man of Steel. She earned an Emmy nomination for her role on the CBS mini-series Lonesome Dove.

Kinnear, meanwhile, is best known for film roles in As Good as It Gets and Little Miss Sunshine. His TV credits include Amazon drama Philip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams and HBO’s Confirmation, as well as a guest spot in Friends.

A premiere date for the final season of House of Cards has not yet been determined.
