Hayden Panettiere to play Amanda Knox in new movie
Story by Jack Foley
HEROES actress Hayden Panettiere is to play US student Amanda Knox in a new film about the murder of her British housemate Meredith Kercher in 2007.
The as-yet untitled project will be shown on US TV channel Lifetime next year and is based on a script by Wendy Battles, a veteran of both CSI New York and Law & Order.
Knox was sentenced to 26 years in jail in December last year (2009) for murder and sexual violence along with her ex-boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, who was jailed for 25 years.
However, mystery continues to surround the events in Perugia, Italy, and all three have maintained their innocence and are appealing against their convictions.
According to the findings of a court, the pair committed the killing with small-time drug dealer Rudy Guede, who was jailed for 16 years.
