Honor Blackman to play feisty pensioner in Casualty
Story by Jack Foley
FORMER Bond girl Honor Blackman is to play a feisty pensioner in the forthcoming series of long-running BBC medical drama Casualty.
She will play a character who ends up in hospital after being hit by a bicycle. But over the course of the episode, she will reveal a background that includes having driven ambulances in African war zones.
Blackman will appear in the first episode of the new series, starting on August 3.
She is best known for playing Pussy Galore in Sean Connery 007 movie Goldfinger (pictured) as well as TV series The Avengers.
Commenting on the casting coup, Oliver Kent, executive producer of Casualty (which is now in its 28th season), described Blackman’s character as “fantastically witty and charming”, while adding that she was “on a mission”.
“We’ve had a long history of famous guest appearances but never a Bond girl,” he added.
Blackman is also set to tour a one woman show on her life and rise to stardom around the UK in September.
