In Treatment: Season 2

Preview by Jack Foley

HIGHLIGHTED by outstanding acting and dynamic writing, the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning HBO series In Treatment: Series 2 is released on DVD by HBO Home Entertainment on October 10, 2011, featuring all 35 episodes across 7 discs.

Set within the highly charged confines of individual psychotherapy sessions, In Treatment: Season Two once again centers around Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne, The Usual Suspects), who continues to wrestle his own demons while trying to help four new patients.

Season finds Weston newly divorced, living in Brooklyn and running his therapy practice from his brownstone.

Focusing on his weekly sittings with new patients, this season’s exceptional cast includes: Hope Davis (American Splendor) as Mia, a sardonic former patient with relationship issues who works as a lawyer at a firm Weston hires to help him with a malpractice lawsuit; Alison Pill (Milk) as April, an architecture student who harbors a life-threatening secret she refuses to seek treatment for or share with her parents; John Mahoney (Frasier) as Walter, a high-powered CEO whose defenses begin to unravel when professional scandal and personal loss threaten his position; Aaron Shaw (Dirty Laundry) as Oliver, an 11-year-old who overeats as a way of dealing with his parents’ impending divorce; and opHSherri Saum (Rescue Me) and Russell Hornsby (Lincoln Heights) as Oliver’s estranged parents who also play a part in the sessions.

In addition to seeing patients in Brooklyn, Weston continues to commute to Maryland for his own weekly therapy sessions with Dr. Gina Toll (Dianne Wiest, Oscar winner for Hannah and Her Sisters and Bullets Over Broadway).

In Treatment is an adaptation of the popular Israeli series by Hagai Levi, who serves as an executive producer on the HBO series, along with Stephen Levinson, Mark Wahlberg, Warren Leight, Paris Barclay and Rodrigo Garcia.
