INDIRA Varma has joined the cast of Game of Thrones for its fourth season.

The former Rome actress will play a character named Ellaria Sand, who is described by Variety as the love interest of another new character next season, Prince Oberyn Martell (aka The Red Viper) played by Pedro Pascal.

Varma is the latest new addition to the ever-expanding cast of the hit HBO show, which recently earned 16 Emmy nominations, the most among any drama series.

Further new castings include Doctor Who actor Mark Gatiss, although the network has yet to reveal who he will play.

The show is currently in production for season four, which will debut next spring in the US and on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
