James Purefoy joins Kevin Bacon serial killer TV pilot

Story by Jack Foley

JAMES Purefoy has joined the cast of a new serial killer pilot that Fox is producing with Kevin Bacon in the lead role.

Written by Kevin Williamson, the currently-untitled pilot will focus on a retired FBI profiler (played by Bacon) who finds himself caught up in a serial killer’s diabolical scheme.

Purefoy – who shot to fame in HBO’s Rome and who was most recently seen on the big screen in Ironclad (pictured) and on the West End stage in Flare Path (alongside Sienna Miller) – will play the murderous Joe Carroll, who reportedly uses technology to create a cult of fellow serial killers.

According to Deadline, the in-demand British actor was considering four pilot offers, before finally settling on Williamson’s project.

Marcos Siega, of The Vampire Diaries fame, will direct the pilot.

If the pilot proves successful enough to be picked up and developed into a full series, the show’s first season will run for 15 episodes, as stipulated by Bacon’s contract.
