Jeremy Piven confirmed for ITV's Mr Selfridge with Aisling Loftus
Story by Jack Foley
JEREMY Piven has been confirmed to star in forthcoming ITV drama Mr Selfridge alongside Aisling Loftus.
The former Entourage legend will play Harry Gordon Selfridge, the American entrepreneur who founded the British department store Selfridges.
He will be joined by a talented ensemble that also includes Loftus (of BBC’s Dive and The Borrowers fame), Frances O’Connor (A.I. Artificial Intelligence), Grégory Fitoussi (Spiral), Zoe Tapper (Survivors) and Trystan Gravelle (Anonymous).
Coronation Street‘s Katherine Kelly will star as Lady Mae, an alluring socialite who helps Harry as he builds his empire.
Confirming the casting, ITV’s Kate Lewis said: “It’s impossible to read about the real Harry Selfridge and not be enthralled. Here’s a man that had it all and lost it all in the most spectacular fashion. His life and the extraordinary legacy he left behind are dripping with drama.”
The ambitious drama will be set in 1909 and will run for a total of 10 60-minute episodes.
The script is being written by Andrew Davies (Bleak House) as well as Kate Brooke (Case Sensitive) and Kate O’Riordan (The Bad Mother’s Handbook).
Production is due to commence in April in London with a view to being ready for transmission on ITV1 in 2013.
