Jim Broadbent and John Simm for BBC drama Exile
Story by Jack Foley
JIM Broadbent is to star alongside John Simm in a new psychological drama on BBC1.
The three-parter, named Exile, will be about a father and son who get caught up in a scandal.
Simm plays a London journalist who returns home to be reunited with his father, who has Alzheimer’s disease, only to find their lives turned upside once Simm’s character tries to get to the truth behind an 18-year-old mystery.
Shameless writer Danny Brocklehurst has written the screenplay and filming is due to commence in Manchester on Monday. Veteran actor Timothy West is also among the cast.
Commenting on the prospects for the series, executive producer Nicola Shindler said: “The combination of intense thriller and beautifully observed family relationships, and the chance to work with two of Britain’s best actors, is a rare opportunity.”
