John Leguizamo to play US Del Boy in Only Fools & Horses remake

JOHN Leguizamo is set to play Del Boy in the US version of Only Fools and Horses.

The actor is formerly best known for his movie roles in Carlito’s Way, alongside Al Pacino, and Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, although he has also found small screen success in a recurring role as Dr Victor Celement in the 2005 series of medical drama ER.

He is also a regular on Broadway and started his career in stand-up comedy.

Although only at the pilot stage, the US version of Only Fools & Horses could be turned into a full blown series by the ABC network with Steven Cragg and Brian Bradley, the pair behind medical comedy Scrubs, penning the scripts.

Thus far, the US version looks to be virtually identical to its illustrious UK counterpart in that it will follow the fortunes of two streetwise brothers and their ageing grandfather as they attempt numerous schemes to get rich quick.

British actor David Jason, who became a household name playing the original Del Boy, has already cast doubt over whether the US show can work given the different meanings placed on key phrases on opposite sides of the Atlantic. “Read more”:
