John Simm and Peter Mullan lead Channel 4 2012/13 drama line-up

JOHN Simm and Peter Mullan are among the stars appearing in new drama on Channel 4 this coming 2012/13.
Simm (pictured) is to star in the one-off two hour drama Here and There from acclaimed filmmaaker Michael Winterbottom.
The show will follow a family living through Simm’s character’s prison sentence and is expected to air in September or October.
Mullan, meanwhile, will play an ex-crime boss from Brighton in four-part series The Fear.
The show will examine how Mullan’s character, Richie Becket’s family firm, now being run by his two sons, has to deal with a ruthless new rival gang of Albanians. It is due to air in November or December.
Further drama productions include David Oyelowo’s single drama Complicit, which explores the murky moral compromises that take place as part of the ongoing intelligence war.
Written by Guy Hibbert, the drama will see Oyelowo (of Rise of the Planet of the Apes fame) playing MI5 officer Edward who, desperate to foil another 7/7, wrestles with his conscience when he comes face to face with British terror suspect Waleed (Arsher Ali, Four Lions).
Complicit will air during late 2012 or early 2013.
Gabriel Byrne will also feature in a new show called Coup, which is due to air in September or October, Olivia Colman’s Run will debut sometime this winter and six-part thriller Utopia, about a mysterious graphic novel and a shadowy unit called The Network, is also due in the winter.
A keenly anticipated sequel to the classic The Snowman will be screened in December.
There will also be a new series for each of Fresh Meat (October), Homeland (October), Misfits (October/November), Beaver Falls (August) and Top Boy (2013).
