Jon Cassar to direct 24 revival Live Another Day
Story by Jack Foley
JON Cassar is to direct 24: Live Another Day, the event series revival of the popular Kiefer Sutherland action series.
Cassar is a veteran of the show, having produced and directed 59 episodes of Fox’s flagship series from seasons two to seven, as well as the TV movie 24: Redemption.
During that time he won two Emmys and a DGA Award for his work on the series.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Cassar will direct the first two installments of the 12-episode series, which has been successfully revived by Homeland‘s Howard Gordon.
Cassar commented: “I’m very happy to be renewing my relationship with the 20th Century Fox TV and Imagine family and am excited to call ‘action!’ again on the set of the resurrected 24. Considering I was not involved in season eight, this new 24 event series gives me the chance for closure on a show that is very important to me.”
Gordon added: “Jon was a profoundly integral part of 24 creatively and culturally. It doesn’t feel like it would be 24 without him, and we’re all just really thrilled to be working with him again.”
24: Live Another Day will tell a 24-hour story over 12 episodes, although plot details have yet to be revealed. The series will make its US debut in May 2014.
