Julia Roberts to star in TV series Today Will Be Different

Julia Roberts in Duplicity

Story by Jack Foley

JULIA Roberts is to star in her first TV series, an adaptation of Maria Semple’s novel Today Will Be Different, which was published in September.

The book tells the story of a woman named Eleanor Flood who makes plans to have the best day of her life, but wakes up to find a strange new future unfolding.

Semple, who will write the mini-series herself, commented: “I’m giddy that Eleanor Flood will be brought to life by Julia Roberts… This will be a fun ride!”

Roberts’ own company, Red Om Films, will produce the series.

Although Today Will Be Different marks Roberts first full series lead, she has appeared on the small screen in the hit shows Miami Vice, Law & Order and Friends.

It is not yet known which network will broadcast the show once filming is complete.

Roberts won an Oscar for best actress in 2001 for her role in Erin Brockovich. She was most recently seen alongside George Clooney in Jodie Foster’s Money Monster.
