Julianne Moore to join Mildred Pierce team for new drama
Story by Jack Foley
JULIANNE Moore is being lined up to star in a new period drama based on the novel Dope for HBO and the team behind Mildred Pierce.
The project would be set in 150s New York and follows a woman who returns to society as a private eye after rehabilitating herself from heroin addiction.
Mildred Pierce executive producer/director Todd Haynes would once again step behind the camera for the project, while executive producers John Wells and Christine Vachon would also be back in the same capacity.
The script has already been adapted by author Sara Gran and is currently ‘in development’.
If successful, the project would reunite Moore with HBO for a second time – she’s already played Sarah Palin for them in the upcoming telepic Game Change.
Mildred Pierce, starring Kate Winslet, recently topped the list of this year’s Emmy nominees with 21 nods, including for best movie/miniseries.
