Julianne Moore to play Sarah Palin for HBO
Story by Jack Foley
JULIANNE Moore is to play Sarah Palin in a new telepic from HBO.
The Oscar nominee (for The Kids Are All Right) will play the former Alaska governor in Game Change, which will examine the failed 2008 presidential campaign of Arizona Sen. John McCain.
As yet, no other casting has been announced.
But the television movie is based on the book of the same name by authors John Heilemann and Mark Halperin.
Jay Roach is attached to direct, having peviously helmed Recount, the story behind the 2000 controversial election of George W. Bush over Al Gore.
No timetable has been announced for when the film will go into production.
Palin, who resigned as governor of Alaska in 2009, is widely tipped to put herself forward as a contender for the 2012 presidential race.
She was virtually unknown prior to the 2008 Republican convention, when McCain elected her to be his running mate.
Despite being more closely associated with film roles, Moore had a recurring role in NBC’s 30 Rock.
