Although plot details have yet to be released concerning Bieber’s character, it is rumoured he’ll play a teenager named Jason McCann who will have to make a tough decision regarding his brother.
In what is said to be a recurring role, he’ll initially be seen in the season premiere of the Jerry Bruckheimer producer police drama, starring Laurence Fishburne.
Describing Bieber as a phenomenon, Carol Mendelsohn, Don McGill and Anthony Zuiker, executive producers of CSI, said in a statement: “We’d like to believe that the phenomenon of CSI has had the same impact on popular culture.
“The opportunity to bring them together in the premiere is a great treat for our audience and all of its new viewers. This will be true event television.”
Evidence of Bieber’s burgeoning popularity world-wide can be found in the fact that the singer recently overtook Lady Gaga as the most viewed music video on YouTube.
His hit song Baby has now been watched more than 262 million times.
Bieber is currently on tour in the US in support of his debut album, My World 2.0.
