Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue axed by ABC
Story by Jack Foley
LAST Resort and 666 Park Avenue have both been cancelled by ABC.
The announcement means that the pair of freshman series will get to air all 13 episodes in their original order.
The biggest loss is arguably the nuclear submarine drama, Last Resort, which was the latest offering from The Shield‘s Shawn Ryan and Karl Gajdusek.
Critically acclaimed, the show, starring Andre Braugher and Scott Speedman, began modestly and struggled to make gains in the competitive Thursday night at 8pm slot in the US. It airs in the UK on Sky1.
It marks the second successive show from Ryan that hasn’t made it past the first season stage, following in the wake of The Chicago Code.
Ryan, however, already has a Beverly Hills Cop sequel with Eddie Murphy and Brandon T. Jackson in development at CBS, as wel as a US Marshal drama in the works at TNT.
666 Park Avenue, a thriller starring Terry O’Quinn, Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor, also struggled to gain viewers or critical acclaim and was axed too. It has yet to air in the UK.
