Lisa Edelstein's Cuddy to depart House
Story by Jack Foley
LISA Edelstein, aka hospital boss Dr Lisa Cuddy, will not be returning for the eighth season of House, according to sources close to the production.
The actress, who has been on the medical drama since the start, has opted not to return.
Edelstein was among several cast members, along with Omar Epps and Robert Sean Leonard, whose contracts expired at the end of season seven, prompting her bosses seek pay cuts in a bid to keep the show’s escalating costs down.
But while Epps and Leonard agreed, Edelstein allegedly did not.
It is not yet known what this means for her character, who has been part of a dysfunctional romantic relationship with Hugh Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House for much of this season.
Edelstein’s departure isn’t the first that House has had to deal with, but its certainly one of the most significant.
Former series regular Jennifer Morrison was the first to leave, although recurred throughout Season 6 to close out her story line, while Kal Penn also left the show to take a job at the White House.
The seventh season of House is due to come to a close in the US next Monday (May 23).
