Luther and Death in Paradise will return for new series

LUTHER and Death In Paradise will both return to BBC 1 later this year, Ben Stephenson, the head of drama, has confirmed.
The Idris Elba star vehicle, which attracted an audience of up to 6.77 million, will be back for a third series with four more 60-minute episodes.
It could also yet pave the way for a movie version as Elba has often been quoted as saying that he is keen to take the cop drama to the big screen.
Death In Paradise, meanwhile, stars Ben Miller as Richard Poole, a stuffy British policeman who is re-located to the fictional Caribbean island of Saint-Marie.
It attracted a peak of 6.78 million viewers in 2011 and will return for a sophomore run of eight episodes later this year.
Stephenson felt that the show’s “old-fashioned fun with a modern slant” accounted for its success.
