Mad About You revival in the works

Mad About You

A REVIVAL of hit US comedy series Mad About You looks to be in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony Pictures Television Studios is eyeing a potential revival of the show, which starred Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt.

They believe that both Reiser, who co-created the series alongside Danny Jacobson, and Hunt would return for the revival, which would be set in the present day and follow Paul and Jamie in the wake of their 17-year-old daughter’s (Mabel) college acceptance.

The decision to revive the show follows in the wake of several revivals of classic TV shows, including Miami Vice, Starsky & Hutch, Magnum and Will & Grace.

And it’s easy to see why they’ve now gone for this one. At its peak, Mad About You was a breakout hit for NBC, garnering multiple best comedy series Emmy nominations, as well as wins for lead actress Hunt.

It also grabbed a Golden Globe and a prestigious Peabody Award.

As yet, there is no word on how close to a reality the show is, particularly as Sony TV has declined to comment.
