Martin Freeman and Daisy Haggard to star in new F/X comedy Breeders

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Story by Jack Foley

MARTIN Freeman and Daisy Haggard are to star in a new parenting comedy for FX called Breeders.

According to Variety, the show has been picked up straight to series by the US channel.

The premise is described as exposing the parental-paradox that it is possible, in the very same moment, to love your child unequivocally, while being apoplectically angry with them too.

Freeman stars as a caring father discovering he’s not quite the man he thought he was.

F/X has commissioned a 10-episode arc, which is due to air sometime in 2020.

Simon Blackwell, who co-created the show along with Freeman and The Thick of It‘s Chris Addison, will serve as showrunner.

Nick Grad, co-president of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, commented: “Martin Freeman is an incredibly versatile artist who is perfectly paired with the wonderfully talented Daisy Haggard in Breeders.

“We enjoyed working with Martin on the first instalment of Fargo and are delighted that he is executive producing along with Simon Blackwell and Chris Addison.

“We also appreciate the chance to partner with Avalon Television and Sky Original Productions to bring this new comedy series to audiences worldwide.”
