MARTIN Freeman has teased the possibility of a Sherlock Christmas special for 2015 as highly likely.
In an interview with The Telegraph, the British actor said that it was “pretty likely” that the cast would reunite for a one-off special sometime in 2015.
He said: “If that’s going to be a special – I’m speaking off-message here; if this was New Labour I’d get fired – I think that might be for next Christmas. A Christmas special. That’s what I understand.”
Freeman also confirmed that his wife, Amanda Abbington, who also became his on-screen wife last season in the series, will also be back ‘for the foreseeable future’ on the show.
“While we play fast and loose with the original stories, we generally follow the trajectory of what Conan Doyle did,” he added.
Filming on the keenly anticipated fourth season will wait as that remains two years off and is subject to a period of time when both Cumberbatch and Freeman have enough time in their busy schedules to commit to three more 90-minute episodes.
