DAVID Milch and Michael Mann are teaming up to make a new horse racing drama for HBO.

Luck, which has received a pilot order, is billed as a provocative look at the world of horse racing and gambling told through a diverse group of characters surrounding a racetrack, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Mann will direct the pilot, while Milch has written the project. Both are executive producing.

Milch is no stranger to HBO, having created and executive produced the series Deadwood and John From Cincinnati.

Mann will return to the small screen having served as an executive producer on ’80s hit Miami Vice and on 2002 CBS cop drama Robbery Homicide Division.
