Michelle Monaghan to star in Ryan Murphy's Open
Story by Jack Foley
MICHELLE Monaghan has joined the cast of Ryan Murphy’s Open.
The HBO drama pilot is described as hyper-sexual and already boasts an ensemble including Anna Torv, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Wes Bentley and Scott Speedman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Monaghan will play Grace, a successful and recently engaged gynaecologist.
The pilot is being described as a multi-character exploration of the complex, ever evolving landscape of sexuality, monogamy and intimacy in relationships.
Principal photography is set to begin in early 2014 from a script co-penned by Murphy and Lauren Gussis (of Dexter fame).
If ordered to series, the show will mark Monaghan’s latest small screen excursion with HBO – she also stars opposite Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the cable network’s keenly anticipated True Detective, an eight-episode drama that’s due to debut in January 2014.
And on the film side, the in-demand actress is to star in Claudia Myers’ Fort Bliss alongside Ron Livingston, A Many Splintered Thing with Chris Evans and Better Living Through Chemistry with Sam Rockwell.
