Strictly Come Dancing winner

Story by Jack Foley

STRICTLY Come Dancing will compete against The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent and Dancing On Ice at the annual National TV Awards later this month.

The popular BBC talent contest has been shortlisted once again having won the category last year.

The nominations for the National TV Awards were confirmed on Monday, when Ant and Dec were once again nominated for TV presenters of the year – a prize they have won eight times in a row.

Two of their shows, I’m A Celebrity and Saturday Night Takeaway are also shortlised in the entertainment programme category.

Paul O’Grady, stand-up comic Michael McIntyre and Holly Willoughby are nominated alongside the duo on the presenter shortlist.

In the drama performance category, it’s all about the Davids – with Doctor Who star David Tennant vying for the top prize along with Sir David Jason (for A Touch Of Frost) and David Threlfall (Shameless).

And the travel documentary category includes Billy Connolly: Journey To The Edge Of The World and Stephen Fry In America.

This year’s awards, which are decided by public phone vote, will be held on January 20, 2010, and broadcast live on ITV1 from the O2 Arena in London. Dermot O’Leary will host the ceremony.
