Netflix acquires Mark Wahlberg's Our Man From Jersey

Story by Jack Foley

NETFLIX has acquired Our Man From Jersey, a star vehicle for Mark Wahlberg.

David Guggenheim, of Safe House fame, has penned the script, which is described as a blue collar 007.

Little more is known about the plot but the film is described as a muscular action thriller.

However, news of a deal being struck with Netflix is no surprise, given that all of the participants are in business with the streamer.

Wahlberg and co-producer Stephen Levinson are just coming off Spenser Confidential, inspired by the Robert B. Parker Spenser For Hire novels, which was seen in part or whole by 85 million, making it the second most watched feature film for Netflix.

And Guggenheim is creator and executive producer of the Kiefer Sutherland series Designated Survivor, which moved to Netflix after a run of two seasons on ABC.

As yet, there is no word on a start date for filming or a potential release date for the finished film. It also remains unclear whether the project is destined solely for streaming, or will get some kind of limited cinematic release.
