HIT US comedies New Girl and Brooklyn Nine-Nine have been renewed by Fox, along with serial killer drama The Following.

The Zooey Deschanel starring New Girl will be back for its fourth run, cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine gets a second season following its Golden Globe winning success and Kevin Bacon thriller The Following returns for a third run.

Another comedy, The Mindy Project, has also been renewed for a third season.

The four-some join previously renewed scripted series, including Sleepy Hollow, Bones, Glee, Bob’s Burgers and The Simpsons in Fox’s plans for its 2014-15 season.

Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly and Fox COO Joe Earley said in a joint statement: “These shows are some of the best and acclaimed series on television, with influential, culture-driving stars, and some of the best, most creative talent behind the camera.”

The renewal of The Following is particularly notable for its creator, Kevin Williamson, who looks set to have three shows running concurrently. He also executive produces The Vampire Diaries, which has also been renewed, and currently has a stalker drama starring Dylan McDermott in the works at CBS.
