NIGEL Harman and Tom Cullen are among six new additions to the cast of Downton Abbey for its forthcoming fourth season.
An Shirley MacLaine will also reprise her role as Martha Levinson in the 2013 Christmas episode.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Harman will play as a visiting valet named Green and and Cullen will portray Lord Gillingham, an old Crawley family friend whose history with Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) dates back to childhood.
Also joining the cast are Dame Harriet Walters as Lady Shackleton, a friend of the Dowager (Maggie Smith), Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, who will play a singing house guest, Joanna David, who will guest star as the Duchess of Yeovil and Julian Ovenden as the aristocrat Charles Blake.
Announcing the news in a statement, Downton executive producer Gareth Neame said: “Downton Abbey has seen many great characters visit the house over the years and we couldn’t be more thrilled to welcome the new faces that will be joining the regular cast of Downton in series 4.
“We hope audiences will be as excited about them as we are.”
Harman is best known for being in EastEnders as well as Hotel Babylon (pictured). Cullen’s credits include Black Miror and World Without End.
The casting additions come just days after another Downton regular, Siobhan Finneran, has quit the show.
Finneran follows Jessica Brown Findlay and Dan Stevens in departing the show – the latter who went in surprise fashion at the end of the 2012 Christmas special.
