Noel Gallagher's X-factor shock
Story by Tim Carson
THE news that Noel Gallagher was apparently offered a cool £1 million to replace Simon Cowell on this year’s X-factor can only mean one thing. The publicity drive for the new series has started in earnest.
It happens every year in the run up to the show as rumours start to fly about who will or won’t be appearing on the panel.
Back in December it was rumoured that Simon had offered Noel a place on the panel in the US version of the show but with Simon heading that way himself it seems he wanted Noel to head up the UK panel.
According to The Sun Simon pretty much told Noel to “name his price”. A source told the paper: “Simon promised global fame and a crack at the US panel in future years. He was setting it up for him to make the show his own and fill his boots.”
In what was hardly a shock outcome Noel turned down the kind offer because – again according to the source – “a duty” to stop his brother Liam’s band “stinking up the bottom of the charts”. And, of course, he hardly needs the money.
Having previously said the show had “absolutely nothing to do with music and everything to do with television” and that “if there’s one person in the room who wouldn’t know talent if it kicked them in the arse it’s Dannii Minogue”. It would have definitely been interesting!
