Paul Guilfoyle to leave CSI
Story by Jack Foley
PAUL Guilfoyle, aka Captain Jim Brass, is to leave CSI at the end of its current season.
The actor is one of the last remaining original cast members and has played the role on all 14 seasons of the procedural.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, his final appearance will be in the May 7 season 14 finale in the US.
The industry paper quotes sources as saying that upon learning the news, Guilfoyle made an emotional farewell speech to his colleagues on the CSI set.
Carol Mendelsohn and Don McGill, CSI executive producers, responded to the story by issuing the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter: “Paul made Capt. Brass a standout character. He is not just an original cast member, he is an original. In a show about forensics, fans always looked forward to the handcuffs coming out, and Capt. Brass putting his spin on the crime of the week, just as Paul Guilfoyle put his indelible stamp on the character and the show. He will be missed.”
It is not yet known how Brass will depart.
Ted Danson and Elisabeth Shue, who both signed on in season 12, currently topline the series, which continues to rank as one of the top global franchises in the world.
