Glenister will play Daniel Cotton, Hill is his father Samuel and Mackintosh his brother, Robbo. When all three become caught in the blast, their lives are thrown into crisis and soon “spin out of control”.

White will play a cleaner also caught in the blast, while Reeves will play Glenister’s wife Clare, Daniel Rigby is his son Charlie and Morven Christie his daughter Louise.

Series creator Peter Bowker has described the drama as “a love letter to Manchester” and insists it will show the bad and the good of the city “through a family saga that captured something of the city’s pace, life and humour”.

Glenister commented: “I’m really excited to be involved in such a terrific new drama. Also to be working alongside such an outstanding cast and crew. And of course to be back filming in my adopted home town of Manc!”

From There To Here is directed by James Strong (of Broadchurch fame) and will air on BBC One.
