Poppy Montgomery to play JK Rowling
Story by Jack Foley
POPPY Montgomery is to play author JK Rowling in a new TV movie about the Harry Potter writer’s life.
The American backed film, called Strange Magic, will chronicle the author’s rise from single mother on benefits to best-selling children’s author.
Canada will double as Scotland for the setting.
Australian actress Montgomery is hitherto best known for playing FBI agent Samantha Spade in the long-running US TV series Without A Trace.
But she is no stranger to biopics having played Marilyn Monroe in an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’s book on the singer.
Rowling has yet to make her views on the forthcoming biopic known, although she is renowned for being a private person who has actively sought not to live her life publicly in spite of the success and fame the novels have brought her.
