Principal photography begins on Michael Bay's 6 Underground with Ryan Reynolds

Story by Jack Foley

PRINCIPAL photography has begun on action film 6 Underground in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

The film, which marks a collaboration between Netflix and Skydance Media, stars Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, Corey Hawkins, Adria Arjona, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ben Hardy, Lior Raz, Payman Maadi and Dave Franco, and is directed by Michael Bay.

In their first collaboration ever, Netflix and Skydance partner to produce an event level feature film and the first Netflix project for both Bay and Reynolds.

With 6 Underground, Bay returns to old-school action and character-driven spectacle of his first box office hits Bad Boys and The Rock.

The film is being billed as a fun, edgy thriller set against the picturesque backdrop of Italy and the spectacular vistas and natural wonders found throughout the United Arab Emirates.

From modern, state-of-the-art architecture to some of the oldest neighbourhoods, the film will capture the beauty of the country’s pristine beaches, tranquil desert landscapes and venerable historic sites with scenes shot in Abu Dhabi, Liwa, Al Hamra, Sharjah and Al Ain.

The film is being produced by Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger, along with Bay and Ian Bryce, and was written by Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.

6 Underground is expected to debut on Netflix sometime in 2019 with a theatrical release also a possibility.
