Ray Donovan renewed for seventh season

Story by Jack Foley

RAY Donovan has been renewed for a seventh season at Showtime.

The announcement was made as the Liev Schreiber drama draws to the end of its sixth season, one that saw the series’ production and setting shift from Los Angeles to New York. The seventh season will again shoot in New York.

Production is expected to start this coming spring, with an air date presumably for autumn 2019.

In addition to Schreiber, Ray Donovan also stars Jon Voight, Eddie Marsan and, most recently, Susan Sarandon. It focuses on a Hollywood fixer who may be able to sort out the problems of the rich and famous, but who has to conquer a lot of demons of his own, while looking out for his equally dysfunctional family.

The show premiered on Showtime in 2013 and has since become one of the cable outfit’s most watched series. It still rates among the cabler’s top five scripted series.

Showtime is no stranger to allowing shows to run, either. The network’s most popular series include Homeland, which is about to head into its eighth and final season next year, and Shameless, which looks set to be renewed for a tenth season.
