Rob Lowe departing Brothers & Sisters

Rob Lowe

Story by Jack Foley

ROB Lowe is leaving the drama series Brothers & Sisters after four seasons.

Network ABC confirmed the news in a statement but said that they were looking forward to working with the actor again on future projects.

Lowe became a regular cast member on Brothers & Sisters shortly after the start of the series in 2006, playing Senator Robert McCallister.

Many of his storylines sprung from his romantic relationship with Calista Flockhart’s main character Kitty, although he has never risen to the level of prominence of the Walker family members.

Lowe’s departure is not the first time he has left a hit show after four seasons – in 2002 he left NBC’s The West Wing following a salary dispute.

But ABC network entertainment president Steve McPherson said in a statement: “We would like to keep Rob at ABC. We feel he should be anchoring his own franchise and we are in talks now.”
