OSCAR-winning actors Robert De Niro and Julianne Moore are to unite with writer-director David O Russell for a new TV show.

Details of the plot have not been revealed but, according to The Wrap, the filmmaker, whose hits include Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, has “had multiple offers for the project sight unseen”.

It is, however, thought it will be a limited series run.

The series marks Russell’s second attempt at TV – in 2014 he pulled out of a US TV drama, The Club, he was set to make, a month after it was commissioned. The drama was set in a private country club.

No reason was given for his departure.

De Niro has only previously made one TV appearance, in TV comedy 30 Rock, but pulled out of a drama that was to have starred the late James Gandolfini. He is, however, a regular collaborator with Russell, having previously worked with the director on Silver Linings Playbook, American Hustle and his most recent film Joy.

The double Oscar-winning actor is due to receive a lifetime achievement award at the start of the Sarajevo Film Festival on Friday, August 12.

Moore has also guest starred on 30 Rock and has found widespread acclaim and won an Emmy [in 2012] for her performance in the HBO TV movie Game Change, in which she played Sarah Palin..
