Story by Jack Foley
RYAN Phillippe has landed the lead role in a new cop drama being piloted by CBS.
The news comes after it was also revealed that he’ll be playing a Julian Assange-type in the fifth and final season of Glenn Close legal drama Damages, which is due to air this summer on DirecTV.
The cop drama is being developed by Greg Berlanti and Nicholas Wootton and will see Phillippe playing the central character, a rookie who rises quickly through the ranks from officer to detective to police commissioner in the project. It was previously known as Golden Boy.
Phillippe joins the previously cast Chi McBride and Kevin Alejandro, who previously appeared in acclaimed cop show Southland.
