ICELANDIC indie band Sigur Ros have been signed up for the fourth season of hit TV fantasy drama Game of Thrones.

HBO has yet to confirm the details of their appearance but the band will follow in the footsteps of Coldplay drummer Will Champion and Snow Patrol’s Gary Lightbody, both of whom had cameos in the third series.

Jon Thor Birgisson, Georg Holm and Orri Pall Dyrason are currently shooting their role in Croatia.

The keenly-anticipated fourth season of Game of Thrones is due to air on HBO in the US in 2014, closely followed by Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Based on the series of books by George R. R. Martin, the series is among the most watched in HBO history and has won a variety of awards, including an Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series, won by Peter Dinklage.
