Siobhan Finneran quits Downton Abbey
Story by Jack Foley
SIOBHAN Finneran is to leave Downton Abbey – the third original cast member to depart in quick succession.
The actress, better known as the scheming maid Miss O’Brien, said she would not be returning while promoting the second series of BBC drama The Syndicate.
Her comments were then confirmed by a representative for the ITV period drama – although her character will not be killed off and could potentially return at some point in the future.
Finneran joins Jessica Brown Findlay and Dan Stevens in departing the hit show following its third series – although both Findlay and Stevens saw their characters killed off.
Series four of the Julian Fellowes’ scripted show has just started filming and, according to reports, early pictures feature key characters in mourning for Stevens’s character Matthew Crawley, who was killed off at the climax of the 2012 Christmas special.
