Star Wars Resistance renewed for second season on Disney Channel

Star Wars Resistance

Story by Jack Foley

ANIMATED series Star Wars Resistance has been renewed for a second season on the Disney Channel.

The sci-fi drama is set to debut in autumn 2019. It is only just due to begin its final run of episodes from its first season.

The show takes place a short time before the events of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and was green-lit shortly after Star Wars Rebels ended its four-season run. The story focuses on a young pilot named Kaz who is recruited to spy on the growing threat of The First Order.

The voice cast includes Christopher Sean as Kaz, along with Suzie McGrath, Scott Lawrence, Myrna Velasco, Josh Brener, Donald Faison, Jim Rash and Bobby Moynihan.

Oscar Isaac and Gwendoline Christie reprise their roles from the Star Wars films, playing Poe Dameron and Captain Phasma, respectively.

Lucasfilm Animation stalwart Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels) created the series, while Amy Beth Christenson is the art director.

The decision to renew Resistance and keep it on the Disney Channel will be good news for Star Wars fans, who may otherwise be disappointed that the forthcoming streaming service Disney+ will feature the return of The Clone Wars and the live-action series The Mandalorian.
