Stephen Dorff joins True Detective: Season 3

Story by Jack Foley

STEPHEN Dorff has joined the next third series of the HBO series True Detective, from creator Nic Pizzolatto.

The Blade actor joins Mahershala Ali and Carmen Ejogo in the drama’s keenly-anticipated return.

Dorff will play Roland West, an Arkansas State Investigator who, along with his partner, has his life and career influenced over three decades by a baffling crime.

Season three of True Detective will tell the story of a macabre crime that takes place in the heart of the Ozarks, a mystery that deepens over decades and plays out in three separate time periods.

Ali stars as Wayne Hays, a State police detective from Northwest Arkansas, while Ejogo plays Amelia Reardon, an Arkansas schoolteacher with a connection to two missing children in 1980.

As with the previous two seasons, Pizzolatto will serve as showrunner and direct, this time alongside Green Room‘s Jeremy Saulnier.

Season one of True Detective was a massive success and starred Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey. Its sophomore run, though rated highly by IndieLondon, suffered something of a critical backlash despite the presence of Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams and Vince Vaughn among its cast.

As yet, there is no air date for the third run.
