Stephen Fry to play UK Prime Minister in 24: Live Another Day
Story by Jack Foley
STEPHEN Fry is to play the British Prime Minister in 24: Live Another Day.
The event series, reduced to 12 episodes, finds Kiefer Sutherland reprising his role as agent Jack Bauer, now gone rogue and on the run in the UK.
Fry confirmed the news via Twitter, posting a link to a story on Deadline Hollywood and writing: “Well, this particular cat is out of the bag.”
The actor will play Prime Minister Trevor Davies, who is described as a “strong and charismatic leader”.
US actor William Devane has already been cast as US President James Heller and, according to the report, the relationship between the two world leaders will come under pressure due to personal and political crises.
The new-look format will still set the action over the course of a single day, but it will leap around in time instead of following 24‘s usual, hour-by-hour structure.
The Fox series is due to premiere on US TV with a two-hour special on May 5, 2014, and will be broadcast on Sky 1 in the UK soon after.
Sutherland is currently in London shooting the series.
