STEVE McQueen looks set to unite with HBO to make a new TV drama based in New York.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the British film director, currently tipped for Oscar glory for his latest cinema release 12 Years A Slave, is developing the drama with the channel.

The report states that Mcqueen is co-writing the project with Matthew Michael Carnahan, of World War Z fame, and also intends to direct should a pilot go into production.

The as-yet untitled project would focus on a young African-American man with a mysterious past as he experiences life in New York high society.

Iain Canning, Emile Sherman and Russell Simmons are all serving as executive producers.
