Steven Spielberg to produce Halo TV series

STEVEN Spielberg is to executive produce a live-action Halo TV series, Microsoft has announced.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will include exclusive interactive Xbox One content that is created in partnership with 343 Industries and Xbox Entertainment Studios.

In game form, Halo has become a multi-billion dollar franchise. A first-person shooter, it follows a super soldier as he fights on behalf of mankind against an alien alliance.

The announcement of Spielberg’s involvement continues a prolific period for the filmmaker. In addition to a series order for lottery drama Lucky 7, Spielberg’s Amblin Television is also developing the scripted dramas Portal House with Fringe‘s Jeff Pinkner and a re-imagining of Peter Gunn.

Spielberg is also producing a new adaptation of Steven King’s Under The Dome for CBS, while on the film front he is directing Bradley Cooper in American Sniper.
