Strictly 2010 - line-up revealed

AFTER weeks of speculation, fourteen celebrities for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing have been named.

Among those vying for the 2010 Strictly crown will be magician Paul Daniels who, at the age of 72, will be one of the show’s oldest ever contestants. Also tripping the light fantastic will be former MP Ann Widdecombe, Daniels’ junior by 10 years.

From the world of sport, there will be former England goalkeeper Peter Shilton and Welsh rugby player Gavin Henson.

The soaps as always will be well represented with current and past stars. From EastEnders there will be Scott Maslen (Jack Branning), Kara Tointon (Dawn Swann) and Jimi Mistry (Fred Fonseca), with Tina O’Brien (Sarah Louise Platt) flying the flag for Coronation Street.

Also from television will be psychologist Pamela Stephenson, who became a household name in the 1980s when she appeared in the sketch show Not The Nine O’Clock News alongside Rowan Atkinson, Mel Smith and Griff Rhys Jones. Joining her will be CountryFile presenter Matt Baker and Holby City‘s Patsy Kensit (Faye Morton/Byrne).

Felicity Kendal, famed as much for her numerous television roles as her many stage appearances, will also be joining the line-up; as will DJ Goldie and American singer Michelle Williams (Destiny’s Child).

Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly return to host what be will the eighth series of Strictly Come Dancing, although 82 year old Forsyth will be on hand only for the Saturday show.

The new series begins on Saturday, September 11 at 6.25pm.
